Sūra al-Wāqiʿa (Arabic: سورة الواقعه) ranks as the fifty-sixth sura of the Qur’an, classified as a Makki sura and positioned within juz' twenty-seven. The title al-Wāqiʿa translates to "The Event," a reference to the resurrection, which is introduced in the opening verse of this chapter.

This sura delves into the theme of resurrection and outlines the events associated with it. It categorizes humanity into three distinct groups: the People of the Right Hand (Ashab al-Yamin), the People of the Left Hand (Ashab al-Shimal), and the Foremost (al-Sabiqun). Each group is discussed concerning their respective positions, rewards, or punishments after resurrection. Notably, commentaries often highlight Imam Ali (a) as the quintessential example of the Foremost, reflecting his early faith in Prophet Muhammad (s).

The recitation of Sūra al-Wāqiʿa is associated with numerous merits; it is noted that individuals who regularly recite this sura will not be counted among the ignorant. Esteemed reciters, such as Abdul Basit, Mohamed Siddiq El-Minshawi, Abu Bakr al-Shatri, and Saad al-Ghamdi, are recognized for their eloquent renditions, further enhancing its spiritual resonance.
